Trained advocates are available to provide support and assistance through medical, reporting, and legal procedures. We can help at medical facilities, police departments, universities, and other institutions. Our advocates can also provide assistance with "no contact" orders, criminal and civil court cases, or other legal processes.
If you have been sexually assaulted or abused, you have many options.
The Women's Center offers public education and prevention programs on many topics related to domestic violence and sexual assault/abuse. Our counselors and speakers will make onsite visits to schools, workplaces, worship centers, and organizations in order to speak to children, adolescents, and adults. We sponsor professional training for various professional groups--such as legal, medical, and law enforcement.
On college campuses, the Women's Center also provides resources designed to increase awareness of sexual violence among campus and community members, prevent incidences of sexual violence in the southern Illinois region, and provide resources for campus faculty and staff, community leaders, businesses and organizations regarding sexual violence prevention and response.
All education programs and training are provided at no cost. All sessions can be adapted for small groups, classes, or large events and presented as one-time or multiple session presentations.
Counseling services are available to individuals of all ages who have experienced sexual violence, as well as their families, friends, and allies. Counseling is available immediately after an assault or at any later date.
